Nissan Altima Owners Manual: Engine coolant temperature gauge

The gauge indicates the engine coolant temperature.

The gauge indicates the engine coolant temperature.

The engine coolant temperature is within the normal range 1 when the gauge needle points within the zone shown in the illustration.

The engine coolant temperature varies with the outside air temperature and driving conditions.

CAUTION

If the gauge indicates coolant temperature near the hot (H) end of the normal range, reduce vehicle speed to decrease temperature. If the gauge is over the normal range, stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible. If the engine is overheated, continued operation of the vehicle may seriously damage the engine. See “If your vehicle overheats” in the “In case of emergency” section for immediate action required.

    Tachometer
The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Do not rev engine into the red zone 1 . CAUTION When engine speed approaches the red zone, shift to a higher gear or reduc ...

    Fuel gauge
The gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the tank. The gauge may move slightly during braking, turning, acceleration, or going up or down hills. The gauge needle returns to 0 (Empty ...

Description The mass air flow sensor (1) is placed in the stream of intake air. It measures the intake flow rate by measuring a part of the entire intake flow. The mass air flow sensor controls the temperature of the hot wire to a certain amount. The heat generated by the hot wire is reduced a ...

    P0116 ect sensor
Description The engine coolant temperature sensor is used to detect the engine coolant temperature. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the ECM. The modified signal returns to the ECM as the engine coolant temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change i ...
